Orange Pound Cake

Makes 2 loaves - delicious by itself or use to make trifle with cream recipe and berries.
Cream together - 1/2 pound unsalted butter at room temperature + 2 cups sugar
Add: 4 eggs, one at a time and 1/4 cup orange zest
Dry Ingredients
Sift 3 cups flour + 1/2 tsp baking soda + 1/2 tsp baking powder + 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
1/4 fresh orange juice + 3/4 buttermilk + 1 tsp vanilla + 3-4 drops of orange or tangerine essential oil
Mix wet and dry ingredients into a creamed mixture, alternating between dry and wet until all combined.
Butter and flour two loaf pans, line with parchment on the bottom.
Glaze
In a small pot, cook 1/2 cup sugar + 1/2 cup orange juice until sugar is melted and mixture is syrupy. Cool slightly and add 1 drop of orange or other citrus essential oil. Remove cakes from pan and spoon glaze over warm cakes.
