FAQ's

1. What is Traditional Chinese medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a safe, effective and technically advanced medical system of diagnosis and treatment developed in China over thousands of years. The foundational principles are relatively simple: human beings are meant to exist in a state of harmonious balance between the physical, mental, spiritual and environmental spheres. Disease is a manifestation of disharmony. Chinese medicine identifies the disharmony, and treats it using a combination of dietary therapy, Chinese herbs, bodywork, physical and breathing exercises, and acupuncture.

2. What conditions can be treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine?

As TCM is used in conjunction with regular M.D.'s in China, it is an excellent medical choice for a wide range of ailments. Most people today are afflicted with a myriad of ailments that are the result of their hectic lifestyle:  stress and worry, a sedentary lifestyle and poor nutrition; making them more vulnerable to disease. Many find themselves on a host of prescription medications and yet symptoms persist. People in the U.S. first try Traditional Chinese Medicine when they have sought medical help and were disappointed with the results or side effects of medications. Oftentimes, they could have prevented those results/side effects by visiting a TCM practitioner FIRST. The science effectively treats hundreds of conditions that often cannot be treated effectively by Western Medicine.

3. I don’t believe in it but I’m desperate. Will it still work if I’m skeptical?

Of course! Traditional Chinese Medicine is a very practical medicine. It isn’t magic, but a sophisticated medical tradition based on thousands of years of empirical observation and therapeutic practices.

4. I thought Chinese medicine meant acupuncture. Are there other treatments available?

Yes! There is an ancient Chinese proverb: If someone is ill, first try to heal them with food. If unsuccessful, try herbs, bodywork and exercises. If unsuccessful, try acupuncture. Chinese medicine has an enormous herbal tradition as well as nutritional and dietary therapies and self-massage and acupressure to name a few. Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses a myriad of treatment options and modalities.

5. Is it safe? My doctor is skeptical.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is extremely safe when administered by a highly-trained/educated and credentialed TCM professional. I have been credentialed as an DOM (Doctor of Oriental Medicine) and in practice since 2002 and have been a TCM adjunct Graduate Professor at multiple TCM schools around the country since 2011. You can expect few, if any side effects and Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments will not interfere with the care you receive from your Western doctor.

In fact, in China, they often work in partnership.

6. Do you take insurance?

I did take insurance for over 15 years. Bill insurance and collecting payment is extremely expensive. But upon opening this Practice in Las Vegas, I began the re-credentialing process and should be taking insurance quite soon: stay tuned!
